Saving Scotty

A disabled Vietnam veteran’s dog was declared dangerous (unjustly) by the City of Abilene a year and a half ago.  Joe Darlak’s dog, “Scotty,” has been confined at Abilene Animal Control since that time because Joe has not had the funds to get him out.  The deadlines for an appeal have passed and nothing can be done from a legal standpoint.

The Animal Law Clinic at South Texas College of Law negotiated a reduction in the amount the city would accept to release Scotty; however the amount still needed is $2,226, which Joe simply does not have.

Poor Scotty has been confined far too long and without our help, may spend the rest of his life in the pound until he is eventually euthanized.

Joe has already acquired the necessary insurance and arranged for proper enclosure for Scotty when he is released.

If you can spare a few dollars to donate to the cause, please go to  http://www.gofundme.com/Saving-Scotty

UPDATED list of DAS dogs needing rescue

Updated Dallas Animal Services list below. If anyone is able to help with these dogs please contact Kelly at 214-923-6171 or kelbond@sbcglobal.net.

INJD15 A794519
This beautiful boy came to us after being attacked by a much larger dog.  He is healing up very well.  We believe he is a dachshund mix.  When he first came to the shelter he was very scared, but has grown into a sweetie pie!  He is pretty much healed and ready to get out of the shelter!  He is also heartworm negative!!!

VT6 A796302
This adorable little girl needs your help! One of her eyes is ruptured and needs to be removed.  We currently are treating her but we are not able to do the surgery. She is a very sweet girl that loves to be pet.  We think she may be about 7 years old but it is hard to tell with smaller dogs.  Her back teeth look really good, not much tarter but her front teeth will need some work.  Diet plays a big role on how an animal's teeth look and unfortunately we don’t know anything about this little girl’s past.

FAMGP2 A795662 + 5 puppies (see above)
This is one of the cutest families ever!  Momma is a mastiff mix that comes to us with a docked tail that never stops wagging.  She is very gentle and a wonderful mom.  She weighs about 90 lbs so you know her puppies are going to be pretty big!  Her 5 puppies are just adorable!  They do need work with socialization but will allow you to handle them.  The just need a practice (foster) home where they can be comfortable and learn to love and trust people!

DLF55 A794569
This cute boy is about 3 years old.  In his kennel he is very calm and he is easy to miss.  He needs someone who will be able to show him off like he deserves!  When you open the door to his kennel, he calmly walks up and wants to be scratched.  He isn’t too annoying or too loud (at least here in the shelter)…he is the perfect pet!  Don’t let his opportunity of finding a home be missed because he is too well behaved here at DAS.
Was moved into adoptions but still avail.

DLF95 A794116
This little poodle is ready for his new home.  He is about 3 years old.  When you go to his kennel, he will tell you that he is ready to go!  He came to us all matted, we had to do a medical shave he was so bad L  Now, he looks and feels so much better!

DLF85 A795502
This little scruffy boy is begging for someone to come and get him!  He is about 6 years old which makes him a wise and wonderful pup!  His name is Mocha and he was surrendered to the shelter when his owners could no longer afford his care. They told us that he is housebroken and loves everyone!!!
