BREED SPECIFIC RESCUE ORGANIZATIONS

Interested in adopting a dog, but want a specific breed? You can actually find breed specific rescue organizations everywhere. Labs, Poodles, Beagles and dogs of all breeds need rescuing too! They don't have to come from a breeder. If you are looking to adopt a specific breed please search for your new pup through a rescue organization before calling a breeder.

Breeds are listed below. Some regional organizations are listed where DFW or Texas groups could not be found. Please contact me at sydneyr@alumni.ou.edu if there are groups I need to add/remove.

This information takes a long time to compile so I will add more over time. Also researching hybrid breed rescues for all of you labradoodle, cockapoo lovers out there!

Thanks!

URGENT: Beagles Need Foster! Contact Dallas Pets Alive

URGENT! We posted these boys yesterday that need foster homes and they are both still in need! They only have until Friday to be saved. If you can help please visit http://bit.ly/dpafoster to fill out a foster application.

A816007: Skip, male, Walker Hound mix, 3 years old. This boy is very scared in the shelter. He came in as a stray but seems to be house trained. Skip gingerly took a treat and accepted a head pet but was very fearful.

A711621: Chester, male, Beagle mix, 8 years old. Chester has had a rough year. He wound up at the shelter back in February but was found & picked up by his owner. Then last month, they surrendered him back to DAS because they could no longer care for him. He is a sweet boy and is confused about why he's back in the shelter.

We would love to find homes for both of these loving boys. Can you help? (Repost from Dallas Pets Alive)

German Shep pups, Chi pup and a Maltipoo at DAS

These puppies are ADORABLE.... Their ears are just starting to stand up and they have beautiful markings! The shelter is treating them for Cocidia but other than that they are doing great! Anyone have room for this tub of pups? I am only counting 7 in the tub but for some reason I was thinking there were 8 of them.

Please e-mail DASrescue@dallascityhall.com if you can help.... THese pups need out now....

DAS has started treatment on both of these dogs and they said the poodle is already looking better. The poor little Chi pup was hard to get a picture of because she is so tiny and she couldn't stop scratching! They are both VERY FRIENDLY and well adjusted.... Anyone have space for a sweet but mangy foster?

Please e-mail DASrescue@dallascityhall.com if you can help.

Borther/Sister dogs looking for a new home

Yingyang and Golddust are looking for a new home as their owner has passed away recently. They are currently in foster care together with a family member of their owner. Both are very affectionate dogs, but they needed socialization. They are accustomed to being in a backyard most of the time and do not have much experience with leash training, car rides, and interacting with kids/cats/other dogs. Their foster family has been working on their socialization for the past few months and hopes that their new family will do the same. They must be adopted together.

If you would like more information on Yingyang and Golddust please CONTACT:  Ron at 214-212-8205 or Doris at 214-317-5749.

3 year old Female Irish Setter looking for a new home!

Blythe is a three year old, female Irish Setter that was rescued at the age of six months. She has been a loving and loyal pet to her current owner. He is grateful for her companionship, but due to some recent life changes, he decided its in Blythe's best interest to find a home that can provide the space and time to play with her.

Blythe is an energetic dog that loves to play outside but when indoors she is very relaxed. She loves going to dog parks and out to the lake. She is also great with other dogs but does not get along with cats very well. Above all, she is great in a family atmosphere and is great with kids. An ideal home for her would take all of these things into account. It would be ideal if the home has a fenced yard or space to run and play.

Blythe is up to date on her vaccinations and her vet records are available. She has had a few minor ear infections in the past and her current owner makes an effort to regularly clean her ears to prevent new infections. Her owner feels this is a minor effort and should not deter anyone that is interested in meeting Blythe.

Blythe knows basic commands (sit, stay) but would benefit from an owner that is willing to do a little  more training in these areas. She is great on a leash and is a dog that tends to stay close to her owner.

Blythe is an excellent dog and would be great if you are looking for a unique, sweet, energetic, and loyal companion and friend.

Her owner is not interested in an adoption fee for Blythe, but wants to ensure that the person/family adopting her will be her forever home and is able to give her the best care possible.

For more information about sweet Blythe, please contact Michael at 214-395-8438.

Emily needs out of DAS by COB Tuesday!

She has until close of business Tuesday 9/3/13 to be tagged.
Sweet Emily has been here since August 10th and we are not able to give her any more time.  We originally had her aged at about 3 but I think that she is closer to about 5 or 6 years.  She is a happy little girl that loves going outside.  It was super hot today so although she was happy to be out, she was ready to go back inside after she did her business(and so was I! ).  She did splash around in the water bowl a little and chase a tennis ball.  She hopped around wanting to play and run.  Emily also walks very well on a leash and would be great for someone who needs a buddy for walks.

Although, Emily is a wonderful girl, she is not perfect.  She does have a skin issue.  We have performed multiple scrapes and have not found any presence of mites.  She also has a cloudy eye.  We do not have the resources to determine the cause of her eye issue.  We have attached the medical records to this email so that you can see all that we have done for Emily.  Please consult with your vet if at all possible to see if you could help her!
Emily is heartworm NEGATIVE!
Emily also has multiple guardian angels looking out for her.  They have offered a total of $1,200 donation to the group who pulls her!
All we can ask is that you give Emily a chance at a better life.
Please email DASrescue@dallascityhall.com if you can help or if you have any questions!
