URGENT: Beagles Need Foster! Contact Dallas Pets Alive

URGENT! We posted these boys yesterday that need foster homes and they are both still in need! They only have until Friday to be saved. If you can help please visit http://bit.ly/dpafoster to fill out a foster application.

A816007: Skip, male, Walker Hound mix, 3 years old. This boy is very scared in the shelter. He came in as a stray but seems to be house trained. Skip gingerly took a treat and accepted a head pet but was very fearful.

A711621: Chester, male, Beagle mix, 8 years old. Chester has had a rough year. He wound up at the shelter back in February but was found & picked up by his owner. Then last month, they surrendered him back to DAS because they could no longer care for him. He is a sweet boy and is confused about why he's back in the shelter.

We would love to find homes for both of these loving boys. Can you help? (Repost from Dallas Pets Alive)

German Shep pups, Chi pup and a Maltipoo at DAS

These puppies are ADORABLE.... Their ears are just starting to stand up and they have beautiful markings! The shelter is treating them for Cocidia but other than that they are doing great! Anyone have room for this tub of pups? I am only counting 7 in the tub but for some reason I was thinking there were 8 of them.

Please e-mail DASrescue@dallascityhall.com if you can help.... THese pups need out now....

DAS has started treatment on both of these dogs and they said the poodle is already looking better. The poor little Chi pup was hard to get a picture of because she is so tiny and she couldn't stop scratching! They are both VERY FRIENDLY and well adjusted.... Anyone have space for a sweet but mangy foster?

Please e-mail DASrescue@dallascityhall.com if you can help.

Borther/Sister dogs looking for a new home

Yingyang and Golddust are looking for a new home as their owner has passed away recently. They are currently in foster care together with a family member of their owner. Both are very affectionate dogs, but they needed socialization. They are accustomed to being in a backyard most of the time and do not have much experience with leash training, car rides, and interacting with kids/cats/other dogs. Their foster family has been working on their socialization for the past few months and hopes that their new family will do the same. They must be adopted together.

If you would like more information on Yingyang and Golddust please CONTACT:  Ron at 214-212-8205 or Doris at 214-317-5749.

3 year old Female Irish Setter looking for a new home!

Blythe is a three year old, female Irish Setter that was rescued at the age of six months. She has been a loving and loyal pet to her current owner. He is grateful for her companionship, but due to some recent life changes, he decided its in Blythe's best interest to find a home that can provide the space and time to play with her.

Blythe is an energetic dog that loves to play outside but when indoors she is very relaxed. She loves going to dog parks and out to the lake. She is also great with other dogs but does not get along with cats very well. Above all, she is great in a family atmosphere and is great with kids. An ideal home for her would take all of these things into account. It would be ideal if the home has a fenced yard or space to run and play.

Blythe is up to date on her vaccinations and her vet records are available. She has had a few minor ear infections in the past and her current owner makes an effort to regularly clean her ears to prevent new infections. Her owner feels this is a minor effort and should not deter anyone that is interested in meeting Blythe.

Blythe knows basic commands (sit, stay) but would benefit from an owner that is willing to do a little  more training in these areas. She is great on a leash and is a dog that tends to stay close to her owner.

Blythe is an excellent dog and would be great if you are looking for a unique, sweet, energetic, and loyal companion and friend.

Her owner is not interested in an adoption fee for Blythe, but wants to ensure that the person/family adopting her will be her forever home and is able to give her the best care possible.

For more information about sweet Blythe, please contact Michael at 214-395-8438.

Emily needs out of DAS by COB Tuesday!

She has until close of business Tuesday 9/3/13 to be tagged.
Sweet Emily has been here since August 10th and we are not able to give her any more time.  We originally had her aged at about 3 but I think that she is closer to about 5 or 6 years.  She is a happy little girl that loves going outside.  It was super hot today so although she was happy to be out, she was ready to go back inside after she did her business(and so was I! ).  She did splash around in the water bowl a little and chase a tennis ball.  She hopped around wanting to play and run.  Emily also walks very well on a leash and would be great for someone who needs a buddy for walks.

Although, Emily is a wonderful girl, she is not perfect.  She does have a skin issue.  We have performed multiple scrapes and have not found any presence of mites.  She also has a cloudy eye.  We do not have the resources to determine the cause of her eye issue.  We have attached the medical records to this email so that you can see all that we have done for Emily.  Please consult with your vet if at all possible to see if you could help her!
Emily is heartworm NEGATIVE!
Emily also has multiple guardian angels looking out for her.  They have offered a total of $1,200 donation to the group who pulls her!
All we can ask is that you give Emily a chance at a better life.
Please email DASrescue@dallascityhall.com if you can help or if you have any questions!

Dogs available at DAS

We have lots of sad eyes and pleading puppies here at Dallas Animal Services today.  They are all hoping that someone will see them for the loving animals they are and give them a second chance!
Email DASrescue@dallascityhall.com if you can help these sweeties find a happy ending!
DLF15 A805296
This adorable boy is only 8 months old!  He is a sweet boy and listens very well.  All he wants in live is someone to give him a nice scratch on his head and a warm bed.  We have this boy as a shepherd mix.  He only weighs about 34lbs so is pretty small for a shepherd.  Maybe shepherd/pug mix. He will be available on 9/6/13

DLF34 A803933
This cute little boy is just pleading for someone to take him home!  When you walk by his kennel he stands at his door and gives you the saddest eyes ever!  Once you walk into his kennel he is all tail wags.  He also will gently jump up asking for attention.  He has won the heart of some of our staff and we are hoping he will win yours!  He is only about a year old and weighs 30lbs.

DLF115 A804674
This beautiful big boy is Baluga.  He has the thick body of an american bulldog and the coloration of a german shorthaired pointer!  A super cute combination J  He is about 3 years old.  He is a little shy but is just a big baby who needs someone to love him!  He is 3 years old and our records say he weighs 55lbs…he probably weighs a little more than that though…

DLF42 A805271
This adorable little labrador mix boy is about 2 years old and weighs 39.4lbs.  He is a gentle boy and will talk to you if you don’t give him attention.  He is mostly white but his hears are outlined in tan…too cute!  He is currently still on stray hold but will be available to pull on the 5th.

DLF43 A805158
This happy go lucky boy will be available to pull on the 4th.  He is an energetic sweetheart!  He is only about 2 years old and weighs 65.4lbs.  He has pretty good manners although he is ready to get out of his kennel!  We believe that he is a lab/pointer mix?  He will be available to be pulled on the 4th.

DLF40 A805242
This cute boy is Henry.  Henry is about 4 years old and we think he might be a pbgv mix.  Henry was surrendered by his owner because he keeps digging out of the yard.  Well, he was left outside all the time so was probably hoping to get out and find a groomer!  Henry is currently available for adoption or transfer

DLF2 A804269
This little girl is Sally.  Sally came to us as a stray.  She is a sweet little girl but no one ever claimed her L  We spayed her in hopes that we would be able to put her in our adoption program.  Unfortunately she is heartworm positive.  This sweet australian shepherd mix needs to be transferred and treated for those despicable worms!  Can your group help her?

DLF61 A805263
This sweet girl is about 3 years old and weighs about 9 lbs.  She may look a little fearful but the second you go into her kennel she will jump all over you begging for attention.  She is just a little ball of fluff…fluff that will need to come off because she is matted but cute none the less!J
She will be available to pull on the 5th

DLF41 A805325
These beautiful brown eyes belong to a submissive terrier mix.  He is about a year and a half.  He is a little fearful but if you get down on his level he will come to you right away.  He does have some areas of hair loss but it is most likely do to fleas.  He is a cutie and with a little bit of confidence, should get adopted quick!

Email DASrescue@dallascityhall.com if you can help these sweeties find a happy ending!

Copied from my vet website: This is Nova. She recently lost her owner and is in desperate need of a new home. She is a happy 9 year old, spayed female, and only weighs about 18 pounds. She only has a week before her fate is decided for her. A relative is keeping her in the interim, but cannot keep her long term. She is currently being treated for congestive heart failure, but she is stable and doing well on her medications, so please don't let that change your mind if you're interested.

I spoke with the family member who is trying to help Nova. He is nice and really wants to honor this dog and his mother is finding someone to take her....he is not in a position to take the dog....The dog had a horrible start in life and was adopted from Operation Kindness, but the family says they have not had room to take her back. She is very shy and timid and been through horrible trauma losing her owner. She has until next Tuesday as the family returns to Seattle and they desperately are searching for help. She is calm, house trained, and a good companion. She is afraid of bigger dogs. Her meds are not expensive and she is a sweet dog. Please, Please, Please.....We need everyone's help pls....Nova needs us all...please help this girl. She deserves to live at her golden years in peace.

Dogs available at Dallas animal Services

Dallas Animal Services is always full of cute animals in need of forever homes!  Below are some of the ones currently here that are in need of transfer!

Please email DASrescue@dallascityhall.com if you can help!

NMOMS4 A800223 + 2 puppies

This sweet momma is Molly.  Molly was surrendered by her owners because they had too many dogs.  Molly is about 3 years old and was an inside/outside dog.  She is super friendly.  We believe that Molly and her pups are chiweenies!  Her babies are about 5 weeks old.  There is one boy and one girl.  The girl is the same color as momma and the lighter brindle is the boy.  They are all outgoing and friendly.

NMOMS1 A801363 + 6 puppies

This little puggle momma could really use some help with finding a forever home!  Here pups are too cute and will get adopted fast!  They are about 6 weeks old and adorable!  There are 4 boys and 2 girls.  Momma is about a year and a half.  She was surrendered by her owner because a whole houseful of mom and pups can be hard to handle.  L  Momma is heartworm positive.  She can be a little protective of her puppies but is a sweet girl.  Once you go in the kennel with her, she will approach you and loves attention.  She is still nursing the puppies but they are ready to be weaned (and mom is ready as well!).  If you have space for this cute family of puggles, please let us know!

SDLF12 A801092, A801093, A801094, A801095

These adorable faces belong to four 5 week old puppies that need to be transferred.  They are a little fearful but once you start petting them, they warm up quickly.  They are just too cute and too young to be in a shelter.  They only need a few more weeks before they can be available for adoption!  Please help these sweet siblings!

DLF122 A800807

This cute terrier mix came to us with an injury on his shoulder.  We are nt sure what caused it, but he is healing up wonderfully!  He is a little shy in the kennels but will warm up to you.  Because he is so shy at the shelter, we worry that he won’t show very well to potential adopters.  We are hoping that one of our transfer partners can help him!  He is about a year old and weighs about 42lbs.

DLF32 A801110

This blue chow mix is about 2 years old.  He will come up to the kennel to say hi, wagging his tail!  He is a little shy but is sweet.  He will sit with a little coaxing and a treat! This boy has a guardian angel who has offered $100 donation to the group who pulls him!

DLF29 A801143

This beautiful golden/shepherd mix is a year and a half.  He is a sweet boy and is ready to be out of the shelter.  When you are in his area and giving attention to other dogs you will hear him!  He is a talker!  He also knows how to sit and shake!!!  He loves treats and is very food motivated.  I think this boy would make a great companion for someone! This boy has a guardian angel who has offered $100 donation to the group who pulls him!!!

DLF76 A799198

This little cattle dog mix is still here!  His about 10 months old and sweet as can be.  He came in with hair loss.  We did a skin scrape but were unable to find anything.  We decided to treat him for his skin infection and gave him some revolution in case it was mange.  His fur is growing back beautifully and we even discontinued his meds because it looks so good!  Please help this sweet boy get out of here! This cutie has a guardian angel who has offered a $100 donation to the group who pulls him!!!

FOUND DOG - DALLAS

This girl is possibly a Dalmatian, Border Collie mix. She was found Tuesday, August 6th at Kiest Park area in Dallas Tx. Her ears stand up straight and she has a long tail. Recently spayed. Very sweet towards people, can sit and lay on command.

Please contact Dayna Frey at daynafrey1@sbcglobal.net if you recognize this dog or if you are interested in helping find her owner or foster.

Dallas 311 Online Reporting

Exciting News to share with all of your regarding the City of Dallas "311" Online reporting!

The "311" Online page was updated over this past weekend and has some terrific great new options. Now you can "register" like you would do on other websites, so your contact information can be retained and not have to be filled in each time you use the online process. PLUS, now you can add "attachments" such as PHOTOS of the problem or issue! Definitely one more tool to validate issues and problem locations for neighborhoods working hard to Renew, Restore and Redevelop their Community.

These changes should make it easier to contact 311 about NON-emergency animal concerns as well as other Code violations.  Attaching photos is a great option and an excellent way to document these violations.   Here’s a direct link: http://www.dallascityhall.com/services/services.html.  And note that “Animals & Pets” is listed first.

Remember, always call 911 if your see or suspect animal cruelty.

Saving Scotty

A disabled Vietnam veteran’s dog was declared dangerous (unjustly) by the City of Abilene a year and a half ago.  Joe Darlak’s dog, “Scotty,” has been confined at Abilene Animal Control since that time because Joe has not had the funds to get him out.  The deadlines for an appeal have passed and nothing can be done from a legal standpoint.

The Animal Law Clinic at South Texas College of Law negotiated a reduction in the amount the city would accept to release Scotty; however the amount still needed is $2,226, which Joe simply does not have.

Poor Scotty has been confined far too long and without our help, may spend the rest of his life in the pound until he is eventually euthanized.

Joe has already acquired the necessary insurance and arranged for proper enclosure for Scotty when he is released.

If you can spare a few dollars to donate to the cause, please go to  http://www.gofundme.com/Saving-Scotty

For more information please contact Randy Turner at randy@randyturner.com.
